Our tree-planting initiative

At Castle Trust Bank, we’re serious about our commitment to the environment – as you can see by taking a look at our latest Environment, Social and Governance plan.
In 2023, we asked our customers about their climate priorities and how they’d like to see us help. Over 96% were concerned about climate change, and nearly 50% wanted us to focus on tree planting and forest protection.
As a result, we plant a tree for every Fixed Rate e-Saver, Fixed Rate e-Cash ISA or Notice e-Saver that is opened – whether it’s a new account, or a reinvestment into one of these accounts at maturity. We’ll keep you in the loop by emailing you details about where and when your tree was planted.

We're aiming high!
50,000 trees by the end
of 2025
We planted more than 10,000 trees in 2023, and pushed that total beyond 25,000 tress by the end of 2024. We’ve set our sights even higher for 2025 – we’re aiming for a total of 50,000 trees by the end of the year.
The trees are planted around the world, including Madagascar, Mozambique, Nicaragua, and Kenya. By focusing on areas where deforestation or land erosion poses significant challenges, and hiring local villagers to plant and care for the trees, we’re not just restoring landscapes – we’re supporting livelihoods. Together we’re helping to make both a lasting global impact, and brighter futures for communities in need.

We’ve partnered with Ecologi for our tree-planting initiative.
We’ll buy more trees every month, to reflect new e-Accounts that have been opened. Keep an eye on this page – we post regular updates showing the latest number of trees planted.

Ecologi is a highly respected, UK-based environmental organisation. It has grown rapidly since its formation in 2018, with over 87 million trees planted in total already. It is now routinely planting more than 25,000 trees a day, with almost 10 million trees planted in 2024.
They also fund a wide range of climate solutions. Their 2024 Impact Report Report gives more detail on the kind of impact the community they have built is having.
