What did you do before joining CTB?

Prior to joining Castle Trust Bank I was a Senior Mortgage Advisor for 6 years.

What attracted you to working for CTB?

I have friends who work for the Bank who spoke highly of it, as well as looking into the Bank myself from my previous job & further research, I could see it was growing which matched my ambitions.

What roles have you had since joining CTB?

The Underwriting role that I am in today.

What attracted you to the role that you are in today?

I have wanted to break into the specialist lending space for a while now, with the ultimate goal of becoming senior management. I felt my 6 years in sales was well rounded & I wanted to add the risk and appetite ‘way of thinking’ to make me a more versatile & balanced manager.

What (and why) do you enjoy most about the role that you do?

Every case is different and it’s really interesting seeing the other side of lending and understanding how lenders make decisions and why. I enjoy seeing the projects that clients undertake & being a part of that.

What have you found challenging about your current role?

Changing my mindset from predominantly being sales to risk-based, just because a loan works on paper, it doesn’t mean it makes sense long term.

What training and development opportunities have you / are you receiving?

I’ve been trained in my current role & received my first lending mandate. I have put myself forward and been approved for the next cohort of first line manager training.

What are your future career aspirations?

It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly where I’d like to end up, working in a Bank has opened my eyes to all the different areas, however I want to be in a position where I can have a team that achieves great things that I am proud to be part of and allows me to make impactful decisions.

How would you describe the culture here at CTB?

It’s fantastic, everyone is incredibly friendly and supportive, people are happy to chip in and get involved to ‘Achieve Together’.

What makes CTB a unique place to work?

The unity in our vision, a lot of businesses have values and mottos etc. but Castle Trust Bank is the first place I have worked where everyone speaks to it and the things the Bank wants to achieve in a natural, subconscious way.
