What did you do before joining CTB?

Prior to working for Castle Trust Bank, I was a Fraud and Underwriting Team Leader for a Sub Prime Loan company.

What attracted you to working for CTB?

I was ready for the next step in my career and my previous workplace had no career opportunities available, so it meant that I had to look externally. Castle Trust Bank was interesting as I hadn’t worked in retail finance before, and I was ready to get stuck into a new subject area. I also wanted more responsibility and accountability, and that’s something this role could offer me.

What roles have you had since joining CTB?

Just this one and hoping that my next role will be at Castle Trust Bank!

What attracted you to the role that you are in today?

The fact that retail finance was a new area for me. I previously investigated fraud in insurance, claims, employee (internal fraud) and application loan fraud – so I was keen for something new, as my skills are transferrable.

What (and why) do you enjoy most about the role that you do?

I love the fact that I am trusted to get on with my day job and that I am the SME for all things related to fraud. I also love the fact that I am helping our Property division regarding their fraud rules and decisioning, which enables me to learn another new product/area.

What have you found challenging about your current role?

I am responsible for Weekly Fraud Working Group meetings which have presence from the Commercial, Operations Credit Risk and Compliance teams. I’ve honed my skills in providing all stakeholder groups with the right level of detail/information, as each team requires different information!

What training and development opportunities have you / are you receiving?

I am currently on a first line manager training programme, delivered by our Learning & Development Manager. The course has been good so far and has been a great opportunity to meet others from around Castle Trust Bank and make new friends.

What are your future career aspirations?

I would like to have more responsibility and accountability across Castle Trust Bank as a whole. I would like my next role to be Head of Fraud, and hopefully this is something I can work towards within Castle Trust Bank.

How would you describe the culture here at CTB?

I like that on a day-to-day basis, all the people around me are willing to help others at the drop of a hat. You can tell that every team is busy but even so, anyone would be there to support me or others.

What makes CTB a unique place to work?

I think you can grow a lot as an individual here. I think it’s a safe environment to test yourself and learn from others. I’ve worked in places before where you wouldn’t get that opportunity, so having that now, you really learn how important it is.
